Teaching our children

Updated: Mar 20, 2020

One day my 7 y/o daughter and I were talking when she started to get snippy (to say it the nice way). Now normally I would have checked her about her attitude and her mouth (which is how I was raised we had a no back talk allowed policy in our household) but this time I said “Lord get your daughter” and sent her to timeout. Well during that timeout, God had a timeout session with me! He said, how can you expect her to behave In the spirit when you’re not pouring into it. Galatians 5 tells us that we produce these fruits: love, joy, peace, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness and self control. Self control isn’t a natural thing; it’s a spiritual thing. Who shes around, what she’s listening to- all this affects how she behaves and acts.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help me to be patient today. Help me to be mindful of the things my children are watching, seeing and doing. Give them Your wisdom and spirit of discernment so that they may see the difference between what’s right and what’s wrong.

in Jesus name I pray, amen
